On successful completion of this course, a transcript is provided detailing the completed lessons and date of completion, as well a certificate template is released for the trainee to provide to the employer to sign off when their portion of the training is complete.

Training must be specific to your company’s operations. If an auditor finds that your training is too generic and does not address your actual job functions, it may not be accepted. Employers are responsible for ensuring employees receive training tailored to their hazmat duties. Please review all of the course objectives for this course to ensure it is a fit for your operation.
These courses are designed to meet U.S. 49-CFR requirements, and teach to the functions required to accept, process and handle dangerous goods by air. For certification in Canada click here. For those outside of Canada and the United States, check with your state authority to ensure TraversEd meets standards.
In addition to the completion of this training, the employer should set up a framework at their organization where trained and experienced DG personnel administer on-the-job training (job shadowing, ongoing coaching).
Employer should sign the certificate of completion and keep records on all training provided. Employer should keep all required records in case of an audit by the DOT.
As TraversEd will not retain records of completion, the employer should keep a record of the TraversEd certificate that includes the dates, times and descriptions of the training provided to their employees. These records may be requested in an audit by the DOT and include:
It is the employer’s responsibility to ensure that this training is accepted by their national authority, and that they are compliant. This course validity is dependent on meeting national regulatory requirements. We suggest that you confirm this in advance.
Freight forwarders and operators share similar functions, and this course is designed for them, however it is also comprehensive enough to be completed by shippers.
Yes, for those in the United States, a module on 49-CFR is provided and complements the other lessons providing comprehensive training for most functions of a freight forwarder and operator. It is your obligation to ensure this training meets the needs of your job function.
Yes. TraversEd will request your certificate of completion from the other training provider before enrolling you as a recurrent student.
Yes. There is an online final exam that requires a passing grade of 80%. Lithium battery standalone course excluded.
Yes. You will need to acquire a copy of the latest IATA DGR to complete this course. TraversEd DOES NOT provide these books. Where possible, please arrange to use your employer’s DGR.
Your employer must ensure that course material is completed by you alone, and assessments (exam) are completed ethically and without assistance. Any additional specific training not covered in this course but commensurate with your position should be provided by your employer. You and your employer will need to sign the certificate of completion. You should provide your assessment results and certificate of completion to your employer so that they may keep records for use in an audit.
We recommend that you use the latest version as our course material is updated each year. The IATA DGR is released yearly. However, an older version can be used, as long as you google the IATA changes document relevant to this year’s DGR.
